Five guys in the car, the night crawling over the hood like a famished cat. The road stretches out ahead of us, empty, indifferent, while the tires whisper secrets to the asphalt. Leather creaks, the earth waits for its turn. A bend, badly taken – too fast, too late, doesn’t matter.
Silence falls, thick as a hangover after a bottomless night. Then the crash, sharp, frontal, unforgiving.

Everything explodes. Leather rips, the earth barges in, glass shatters into tiny fragments, like dreams trampled at dawn.
The roar floods the cabin, fear seeps everywhere—into the folds of our clothes, our throats, our hands. No why, no how, just raw fear, naked, without explanation.

Afterwards, nothing. Heavy silence. Five lives suspended, the world upside down, literally. I’m pinned in the wreck, breath short, head spinning. One question pounding: is this the end?

A door opens, somewhere, mine, someone else’s, what difference does it make? The night covers everything again, wordless, like an old accomplice. The road goes on, and so do I. That’s all that’s left, and it’s already enough.

Footnotes clarify, explain, and expand upon the main text, offering essential references that deepen the understanding of a story.

The way a narrative is perceived often depends on whether one takes the time to read these footnotes. Through them, we gain insight into the universe being described and discover its finer details.

In human relationships, the difference between interaction and connection—between acquaintances and friends, flirtation and love—lies in detail, interpretation, and the revelation of what remains unspoken. It is about allowing space to know more.

Footnotes are like fragrance. They evoke an object, a plant, a material, a memory, a place, or a person, translating what lies within a perfume’s formula into something intelligible and evocative—allowing us to imagine a scent even before experiencing it.

PAJE

PAJE refers to page, as well as the phonetic link created by “et” — the French word for and — connecting the founders’ names.

“Et” forms a duo: Pierre-Jr and Alice. Perfume becomes the footnote of individual stories and the beginning of a shared narrative.

They see life as a book: a succession of pages unfolding through chapters over time, where outcomes can never truly be predicted.

Each stage of life is a chapter—sometimes a continuation, sometimes a rupture.
Characters appear unexpectedly; others disappear after only a few pages.

NOTES DE BAS DE PAJE is the title of the stories we write through scent.
